The Mission of the LSDF

1. To develop, maintain storage services for diverse scientific communities and practices while improving methods and means of distributed data management, large scale data storage, long time data archival and massive data analysis for integration in the scientific workflow.

2. To construct and operate a storage and computing infrastructure on behalf of the Helmholtz Association and the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, providing data services for multiple scientific disciplines as a means for innovation, scientific progress and its translation to society.

3. To identify and adopt suitable methods and policies for trust, security and privacy of data handling and data storage while maintaining open and easy access to knowledge and information in order to facilitate the transfer of research to society and industry.
